Al Capone, whose full name was Alphonse Gabriel Capone, was an infamous American gangster and crime boss during the Prohibition era of the 1920s and 1930s. He was born on January 17, 1899, in Brooklyn, New York, and died on January 25, 1947, in Palm Island, Florida.

Capone rose to prominence as the leader of the Chicago Outfit, a criminal organization involved in various illegal activities, including bootlegging, gambling, and prostitution. He became notorious for his control over organized crime in Chicago and his involvement in violent activities.

Capone’s criminal empire thrived during the Prohibition era when the production, sale, and distribution of alcoholic beverages were prohibited. He amassed considerable wealth and power through his involvement in the illegal alcohol trade.

Despite his criminal activities, Capone managed to maintain a charismatic public image and was often referred to as “Scarface” due to a prominent scar on his face. However, he was the subject of ongoing law enforcement scrutiny, and in 1931, he was convicted of income tax evasion, rather than directly for his criminal activities. He was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison and served his time at Alcatraz and other penitentiaries.

Al Capone’s life and criminal activities have been widely depicted in popular culture, including films, books, and television shows. He is remembered as one of the most notorious gangsters in American history and his name is often associated with the era of organized crime during Prohibition.

A Macedonian visited the gangster’s grave near Chicago, Il, and published a photo of his final resting place.
